A man has been charged with a string of offences after a gun was allegedly pulled out on a Salford street.

Officers attended Great Clowes Street, near Albert Park, at around midday on Tuesday (May 20).

Greater Manchester Police says it arrested a 32-year-old man in Whalley Range on Wednesday in connection with the incident.

In an update issued this morning (Saturday), GMP confirmed he had since been charged.

Jay Conway, of Leicester Walk, Salford, has been charged with possession of a firearm, possession of a firearm when prohibited for five years, possession of a firearm with intent to endanger life, and assault of an emergency worker.

He is due to appear at Manchester and Salford Magistrates’ Court this morning.

Two women who were previously arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender have since been bailed, GMP says.

A GMP spokesperson added: “These charges relate to an incident where an alleged firearm was seen in Salford earlier this week.

“A 56-year-old woman and a 33-year-old woman have both been bailed for enquiries, regarding their arrest for assisting an offender.”
