Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service (GMFRS) has issued a warning to residents in some parts of the region.

The service says residents will not be able to make outgoing calls, including to 999, from their landlines this morning.

People living in Trafford, Prestwich, Atherton and Ardwick may be experiencing no dial tone and be unable to make outgoing calls, warned GMFRS.

But calls to 999 through mobile phones or internet-based services are unaffected.

The emergency service issued a statement on their Facebook page this morning (May 24), saying: “999 landline call outages: Residents in Trafford, Prestwich, Atherton & Ardwick may experience no dial tone & be unable to make outgoing calls, including dialling 999 from their landline this morning.

“Calls to 999 through mobiles or internet-based services are unaffected.”
