Large crowds filed into Centenary Square at around 11am on Saturday May 24 for the Pride parade, which snaked its way through the city centre to Birmingham’s Gay Village.

Open top buses, fitted-out HGVs and tractors took to the parade route as cheers, drums and squeals rang out.

Crowds lined the barriers on the parade route, with families in rainbow tops and face paint, glitter and vibrant costumes all cheering.

Waves of colour rippled down New Street, which was filled with thousands of people coming together in pride, remembrance and protest.

The thrum of drummers provided a rousing soundtrack for the parade, as well as singers and performers dressed up in rainbow carnival gear.

The crowds were a mix of young and old, but all passionately taking the opportunity to march for equality and justice.

Hits from iconic bands like ABBA filled the town centre walkways bringing a fun-filled atmosphere.

Across the weekend, revellers can expect performances from diverse artists within the community, a candlelit HIV memorial vigil, keynote speakers, community stalls, family-friendly activities and street food.

More than 40,000 are expected to attend the festival site itself, which is in the heart of the LGBTQ+ village, where music stars will perform for the crowd, in a safe space, free of judgment.

Clean Bandit, Vengaboys, Cascada and Bananarama are among the artists scheduled to play the main stage at the festival this year.

There were some stunning sights on the parade as it buzzed its way through town and down to Hurst Street.
