LONDON, Ky. (WZTV) — In the wake of the devastating May 16 tornado, the city of London is turning its Summer Concert Series into a powerful show of unity and support.
The first half of the series has been reimagined as the London Strong Benefit Concerts, with all proceeds supporting the United Way of Laurel County’s Long-Term Disaster Relief Fund.
Part One: Friday, June 6 at 7:00 p.m.
Rock band LIT, best known for their hit “My Own Worst Enemy,” will headline the kickoff concert at Town Center Park, with local favorite Sneaky Pete opening the evening with classic rock and sing-along tunes.
The concert, originally scheduled before the tornado struck, will now serve as a major fundraiser. “London Strong” t-shirts will be available for purchase, and United Way representatives will be on-site to accept donations.
Part Two: Saturday, June 21 starting at 2:00 p.m.
A full day of music, food, and community spirit will follow later in June, featuring Lee Newton as headliner along with performances from The Creekers, Paint Creek, County Wide, Pistol Whip, Andrew Moore & Hooch, and Sneaky Pete.
Food trucks and local vendors will participate using a $1 ticket system for all purchases. Tickets will be sold on-site, with 100% of proceeds benefiting the disaster relief fund. Complimentary food tickets will be available for families directly impacted by the storm.
Attendees are encouraged to wear their “London Strong” shirts and take part in a group photo to show solidarity.
