A dad-of-two is stranded in Spain after plunging from a balcony on holiday in Spain.

Matty Durbin, 36, suffered the horror accident last week. He was rushed to hospital where doctors found he had fractured his pelvis and back in four places.

The electrician and kids football coach is unable to fly home to the southwest of England and remains stuck in Spain where he faces a long road to recovery.

His pal Adam Gould has set up a fundraiser to raise cash for Matt and his family while they remain abroad.

Adam said: “Many of you will know Matty Durbin as the passionate and dedicated coach of Clutton U10s, and a familiar face across Clutton FC. Whether he’s giving up his evenings to run training or cheering the kids on at the weekend, Matty is always there, a genuine community hero who never asks for anything in return.

“Last week, while away in Spain, Matty suffered a terrible accident. He fell from a balcony and fractured his pelvis and his back in four places. He’s currently stuck in Spain, unable to travel home, and faces a long, painful recovery.”

According to Somerset Live, Matty’s family are struggling to make ends meet, and his friends have stepped in to help. “With no way to work for the foreseeable future, and additional costs building up abroad, his family are facing a tough few months. Anyone who knows Matty will know he’d be mortified we’re doing this – but the truth is, he needs a bit of help right now.”

Almost £6,000 has been raised by kind well-wishers so far.

Matty has a history of generosity, having sponsored numerous youth football team kits and training tops over the years.

Adam, who described his pal as a “cracking bloke” said: “We are absolutely blown away by the generosity and kindness shown over the past few days. We’re now just short of £6,000 raised for Matt and his family and we honestly can’t thank you enough.

“Matt has been completely overwhelmed by the support. He’s truly humbled by the messages, the donations, and the love that’s been pouring in, especially from people he’s never even met.”

He continued: “It’s brought a real sense of hope and strength at a time when it’s needed most. On behalf of Matt and all of us behind this fundraiser, thank you for being part of this.

“Whether you donated, shared the page, or sent a kind word, it means the world. The football family and local community have once again shown just how special they are.”
