‘Blood’ was splattered on the floor of a hair salon after two teenagers were stabbed, leaving them with ‘serious injuries’.

Emergency services swarmed to the scene on Stockport Road in Ardwick at around 5pm this afternoon (May 24) to find a man and a boy, aged 18 and 17, with stab wounds. An air ambulance then landed nearby between Polygon Avenue and Lauderdale Crescent.

Both of the teenagers remain in hospital tonight with ‘serious injuries’ which aren’t believed to be life threatening, according to police.

Greater Manchester Police have confirmed that three men were arrested on suspicion of affray in connection with the incident.

The Manchester Evening News watched as one man wearing handcuffs was put into a police van outside a salon called Supreme.

When asked, police told a woman from the hair salon that this was the fourth person to be arrested in relation to the incident.

The woman was then heard telling others ‘there’s blood on my floor’. Forensics officers later took photos inside the salon.

The M.E.N. understands that police also kicked in a door at a property on Polygon Avenue as part of their investigation.

GMP later revealed that a ‘large sheath’ was handed over to the police by a member of the public on Lauderdale Crescent.

Residents living nearby told the M.E.N. that police have been patrolling the area more than usual over the last few weeks.

Extra stop and search powers are now in place in the area and in Moss Side where another stabbing took place the previous night.

The section 60 authority, which was authorised by officers in GMP’s City of Manchester division, is in place in the area of Stockport Road at the Asda junction, Upper Brook street, Princess Road, Platt Lane, and Dickenson Road until 6pm on Sunday evening (May 25).

Stockport Road was shut until around 7pm on Saturday (May 24) but a police cordon remained in place on Polygon Avenue.

Extra officers and patrols have been deployed in the area to provide a high visibility presence and offer community reassurance.

Detective Inspector Richard Struttman, from GMP’s City of Manchester district, said: “We have authorised a Section 60 where officers will have increased stop and search powers following two incidents in the last 24 hours.

“These incidents have resulted in three male victims being treated in hospital for serious injuries.

“We have arrested three men on suspicion of affray, and they remain in police custody for questioning.

“We will not tolerate anyone causing harm and intimidation in our communities and will ensure that those who participate in this kind of behaviour, will be caught and feel the consequences the law.

“There will be extra officers deployed in the area to offer reassurance to the community. Please feel free to chat with them and let them know your concerns.”
