A popular Greater Manchester deli known for its authentic Neapolitan focaccia has issued customers with an update.

The team behind Conni’s Focacceria, located within the Spectrum Building on Blackfriars Road in Salford, has confirmed that they will be bidding farewell to the site which they opened opening 2022. But as the owners explained its simply because they’ve outgrown their original shop.

Conni’s has emerged as a firm favourite for its selections of Italian deli goods, delicacies and sweet cannoli since opening in September 2022.

Their food takes inspiration from their parent’s cooking, especially from namesake mother Conni.

Francesco who runs the deli alongside his brother, as well as his mother and father, confirmed on social media that they’ll be moving to a new home.

“Today and tomorrow are the last two days of Conni’s Focacceria at our current location,” he shared on Instagram earlier today.

“Francesco and his family have created a space that has welcomed the entire neighbourhood – and all of Manchester – making sure that everyone who stepped foot into the Focacceria felt like part of the family.

“And as every family does when it grows, there comes a time for a bigger home. That time is now.

“We’re moving to a new, larger location where we can welcome even more sisters, brothers and future members of our extended family.

“Stay tuned for updates on our new home.”

The post on the big move was met with plenty of well wishes too.

“The place where the journey began! Can’t wait to see what the new location has to offer,” wrote one.

“You should all be very proud of yourselves,” added another.

A third wrote: “You welcome us with big smiles when we first moved into our flat we have loved you ever since. Going to miss you being on our doorstep but we will see you in the new spot for sure.”

As well as the Focacceria, last year, brothers Francesco and Lieno opened their first pizzeria just a stone’s throw from the city centre within the Artifex building, which is also on Blackfriars Road – just down from the flagship deli.

Last month, they also teased a third location – a ‘true Italian focaccia bar and bakery’ at Colliers Yard.

The neighbourhood within Greengate recently also became the home of a new Greek café and wine bar, which opened at the end of last year and serves traditional savoury pies like Spanakopita and Tiropita, alongside an evening menu of meze and small dishes.

Sharing the news of the third location, Conni’s simply teased on Instagram: “Third location coming soon.” But it was enough to get customers excited. One person said: “Yes guys.” Another posted: “Smashing it”. One other person added: “SO HAPPY FOR YOU.”

Speaking to the M.E.N previously about Conni’s and the family business, Francesco said: “it’s a tribute to the rich, culinary traditions of Napoli, brought to life right here in Manchester.

“Our mission is to create a space where the authentic flavours of Neapolitan cuisine are accessible to everyone.”
