A major emergency response descended on a Tameside street after a woman was bitten by a dog.
Armed police and an air ambulance were seen following an incident on Stansfield Road, in Hyde, this morning (May 25).
Greater Manchester Police says it was called out to reports of a woman in her 60s being bitten by a dog at 9.20am.
It’s understood the dog was a chow chow breed. The dog was seized by officers at the scene.
Armed police were called out to the scene as a precaution, the Manchester Evening News understands.

There is not thought to be any wider risk to the public and no arrests have been made.
The woman’s injuries are not believed to be life-threatening or life-changing.
A GMP spokesperson said: “At 9.20am today we were called to reports that a woman had been bitten by a dog on Stansfield Road, Hyde.

“A woman in her 60s has been taken to hospital where she is being treated for serious injuries.
“The dog has been contained and seized by police.”
Witnesses saw an air ambulance landing close to the scene, but it is understood the woman was taken to hospital by land ambulance.

The scene has since cleared.
