A man is fighting for his life after a triple stabbing in the early hours of today. Three men self-presented at Salford Royal Hospital at 2.30 am with knife injuries.

One of the three is in a critical condition and two others have been discharged after being treated for their injuries.

The Manchester Evening News understands that police have identified the location of a linked incidet in the Cobden Street area of Pendleton. A police scene remains in place there this morning whilst enquiries are ongoing.

Four adult men were arrested and remain in custody for violent disorder in relation to the incident. An investigation is currently ongoing led by CID officers from Salford.

The incident is not related to the deaths of two teenage motorcyclists in a crash in Salford on Friday. Kailem Robinson, 16, and Kaine Darby, 17, were believed to be riding the same motorbike when it collided with a silver Vauxhall Viva car.

Police also believe there is no suggestion of terrorism or related offences regarding the Cobden Street incident. today’s incident is Police cordons and scenes will remain in place in the Cobden Street and Salford Royal Infirmary locations for the remainder of the day.

Cobden Street is near the main A6 roundabout and is a mix of old industrial units used for various businesses.

Local councillor. John Warmisham, said: “It really concerns me the rise of knife crime, it’s totally unacceptable. Who in their right mind goes out carrying a bladed weapon? It’s now left someone seriously injured. If anyone has any information please contact GMP. We don’t want this behaviour on the streets of Pendleton and Charlestown Ward.”

The incident is the latest in a spate of May bank holiday weekend knifings in Greater Manchester. Before today’s attack three knife incidents had left four young men, some only teenagers, in hospital with injuries ranging from serious to life-threatening.

Police have even been forced to crack down on parts of Manchester, with extra stop and search powers being granted.

Four men, aged 17, 18, 24, and 25, are now all being treated in hospital with stab wounds after the incidents in Moss Side, Longsight and Droylsden.

On Friday (May 23) at around 8pm, police were called to reports of a man aged 24 presenting with stab wounds at A&E following an alleged assault on Moss Lane East in Moss Side. No arrests have been made and the man remains in hospital with ‘serious injuries’.

On Saturday (May 24) at around 5pm, police were called to a disturbance on Stockport Road. When emergency services arrived at the scene, they found a man and a boy aged 18 and 17 with stab wounds. An air ambulance landed next to Polygon Avenue in Ardwick.

A short while later, a large sheath was handed over to police officers by a member of the public on Lauderdale Crescent.

Then, yesterday (May 25) at around 2.50pm police were called to reports of a stabbing on Ashton Road in Droylsden.

A 25-year-old man was found with life-threatening stab wounds and was rushed to hospital. A police cordon remains in place, and forensics are at the scene outside the Church Hotel and Metrolink Station.

In relation to the Longsight and Moss Side incidents, GMP said three men, all aged 18, have been arrested on suspicion of affray and have been taken into custody for questioning.
