The Met Office has revealed when the sunshine is likely to return. It comes after the unusually warm and dry spring turned into a changeable few days with a mix of sunshine, rain, wind and grey skies.
According to the weather service’s website unsettled conditions are set to continue for a while longer before the nice weather returns. The outlook for Tuesday in Wales states: “A damp start in the west with outbreaks of rain sweeping eastwards. Rain could turn heavy and persistent at times, especially later in the day. Remaining wind but mild. Maximum temperature 18°C.”
The forecast for Wales for Wednesday to Friday reads: “Changeable and breezy with sunshine and showers on Wednesday. Cloudier on Thursday with rain and drizzle at times.
“Showers, or longer spells of rain on Friday with occasional brighter spells.”

The Met Office also offers a long range forecast which makes early predictions for the coming weeks.
These are more general and cover the whole of the UK. The predictions may change and become more detailed as time goes on and weather indicators become more clear.
According to the long range forecast for May 31 to June 9, the period may begin with settled weather before turning changeable with possible wind and rain. Towards the end of the timeframe “some very warm, perhaps hot” conditions may develop.
It states: “Though possibly more settled initially, likely continuing changeable with further frontal systems running east into the UK bringing further spells of rain, with showery interludes in-between.
“Strong winds may also develop at times, particularly in the north and northwest. With time the signs are that systems will increasingly track to the northwest of the country, with the south probably starting to see longer, drier interludes while the northwest continues to see more in the way of rain and at times strong winds.
“Temperatures are expected to be around normal overall, but will be cooler in any prolonged periods of rainfall.
“Meanwhile there is the possibility of some very warm, perhaps hot conditions developing, especially in the south and these bring with them the chance of thunderstorms.”
The long range forecast for June 9 to June 23 states: “Changeable weather across the UK with a mixture of Atlantic weather systems moving in from the west interspersed with dry and sunny periods.
“Wetter conditions tending to be across the northwest of the UK, with the south and southeast likely to see more in the way of dry weather,
“Temperatures are most likely to be near normal or slightly above, perhaps with some hot spells at times, especially across the south.”
