A Bristol-based company that provides mobility aids is marking 25 years in business.

Elite Mobility started in April 2000 when friends Steve Hall and Wayne Pegler decided to launch their own mobility firm – with ‘a different approach’.

The pair gained extensive experience in the industry while working for the now-defunct National Mobility. When the time came to launch their own firm supplying and servicing mobility scooters, wheelchairs, beds, powerchairs and stairlifts, the pair made a commitment to unique customer support and aftercare service.

To celebrate this year’s milestone anniversary, Elite Mobility is offering special discounts for new and existing customers – many of whom are repeat buyers – as well as a party for its loyal staff – many of whom have been there since the beginning.

Co-owner Steve said: “People don’t just buy once from us: they might buy a stairlift, a bed, chairlift, scooter and wheelchair – I have customers I have been dealing with for 25 years. It’s been repeat business and recommendations.”

Steve and Wayne say their ‘different approach’ includes free home demonstrations and White Glove Delivery Service.

Steve said: “After asking the customer what theyare looking for, our team will take about seven or eight scooters in their van so our customers can try them first. Our team spend time with them – it could take two or three hours.

“It doesn’t matter to us ifwe sell something for £1,000 or £10,000, it makes no difference. There’s no pressure either, as our sales team are not on commission-only, they are all salaried.

“We will advise you on what’s the right one for you based on what you want. And, if a customer wants a product we don’t have, we can source it for them, because we are Motability accredited.”

As well as brand new scooters and other mobility products, Elite also sells pre-owned and has a good influx of second-hand equipment, so there is always something to suit every budget. the company has 22 dedicated members of staff working for them including a team of skilled engineers, running its successful breakdown and repair service.

“We have engineers who are all fully trained in repairs, servicing and deliveries, so they can put anything right. If somebody breaks down – even if it’s not one of our scooters – we can fix it. Our phones are manned 24-hours a day, and we can be with anywhere in theUK within 48 hours,” assures Steve.

“Nobody offers what we offer in the country. If youbought your scooter in London and breakdown on holiday in Cornwall, we will come to you. It doesn’t matter where you are, we will keep you mobile. That’swhat we have always done and that’s what we willalways do.”

“Our main aim is not to sell, but to keep chairs, bedsand scooters on the move,” added co-owner Wayne.

After 25 successful years at the helm, Steve and Wayne are now looking to the future. The businessman plan to take a step back from Elite Mobility to enjoy retirement and spend time with their families.

But the firm is in good hands, as Steve reveals: “It is a family-run business. One of my sons works here, Wayne’s sister works here, my brother-in-law works here, and my brother Michael is our manager.

“It’s quite a big set up. And a couple of them have been with us for 25 years – so we must be doing something right.”

Wayne added: “We don’t have a big turnover of staff;we really appreciate our staff. That’s what I am most proud of – and I am thankful for our staff and their loyalty, and for the British public for keeping us in business for all those years.

“I would like to thank all our thousands of customers for their continued support. I still have customers I used to deal with in my old company back in the 1990s! If you treat them right, and how you would expect to be treated, it goes a long way,” added Steve.
