Changing the rules to allow for doctors to write 12-month prescriptions is one of just four targeted cost of living initiatives in this year’s Budget, but a leading GP representative says very few patients will end up getting the full $105 in annual savings.
Health Minister Simeon Brown announced the introduction of 12-month prescriptions in last week’s Budget, calling it a “win-win for patients and the health system” by reducing the cost of visits and freeing up GPs’ schedules.
