Reading defender Andre Garcia picked up an assist as England Under-18s beat Morocco 3-1 on Sunday.

The 17-year-old made over 40 appearances in his breakout campaign for the Royals, featuring regularly at left-back after making his debut on the first day of the season at Birmingham City as a winger.

Earning his first Under-18s call-up in March, Garcia limped off on his second appearance two months ago but started the first of two matches with Morocco this week.

Crystal Palace teenager Jesse Derry opened the scoring on six minutes and doubled his tally on 41 minutes, converting Garcia’s cross from the byline.

Liverpool forward Josh Sonni-Lambie added a third with 20 minutes remaining, a clean sheet evading Garcia and the Young Lions when a deflected strike flew past Oliver Whatmuff between the posts.

Still under contract with Reading for next season despite receiving plenty of interest from Premier League clubs, Garcia could feature again for England tomorrow as Liam Bramley’s side face Morocco at 6pm on Wednesday.
