Leeds United could be about to raid one of their 2024/25 promotion rivals for one of their key players, in what fans think would be a very good signing.

Leeds United won the Championship title on the final day of the 2024/25 season, finishing ahead of Scott Parker’s Burnley on goal difference in what was a pretty nervy finish.

In the end, it was Sheffield United who missed out on automatic promotion. Chris Wilder’s side eventually finished 10 points outside the top two and then on Saturday, Sheffield United lost the Championship play-off final to Sunderland.

Now, Daniel Farke could deal Wilder’s Sheffield United side a blow by signing Gustavo Hamer during this summer’s transfer window.

Following the Blades’ play-off heartbreak, it seems inevitable that Sheffield United will lose some key players this summer, and it seems inevitable that Hamer will be one of them.

Leeds United have a long-standing interest in Hamer and recent reports have revealed that Everton and Leeds United are keen to sign Hamer this summer.

It’s understood that Hamer is expected to leave Bramall Lane this summer after enjoying another stellar season in South Yorkshire, scoring 10 and assisting eight more in 44 league games for Wilder’s side, also being named the Championship Player of the Season for 2024/25.

Needless to say, Hamer’s links to Leeds United after Sheffield United’s play-off defeat have prompted a strong reaction from Leeds fans, and many are keen to see the 27-year-old move to Elland Road this summer.
