Two popular independent coffee shops have been renamed by the owners with one getting a slick makeover.
The long-established community cafes have been well known in the city for several years as Tincan Coffee Co, but have recently been given new business names.
Tincan Coffee Co. has had a presence in Bristol for nine years with two branches in the city. One is situated in Gloucester Road, the other in North Street. Both cafes have now been renamed as Peggy’s.
Owner Jessie Nicolson has posted on Instagram to alert customers to the name change writing “new name, same soul”.
Followers were quick to show their support with one writing “the best coffee and the best people”.
Peggy’s will continue to be community-driven and to source locally, networking sustainably with other Bristol businesses – something they’ve always prided themselves in. Delicious coffee, tasty cakes and toasted sandwiches will be served as usual in both locations.
The Instagram post by Peggy’s announced: “We’re having a little makeover – new name, fresh paint and a brand new look. But don’t worry, the soul, vibe, and everything you love is still right here.
“Your loyalty cards & gift vouchers? Still totally valid. North St shop opening at 8am, Gloucester Road shop 8.30am. Business as usual.”

A special new Peggy’s coffee blend will be coming soon to both venues – and keeping it local, Leafy Tea in Bath is providing loose leaf tea to Peggy’s cafe.
Peggy’s website describes the cafe as: “A friendly neighbourhood space serving ethically sourced specialty coffee within a warm & welcoming atmosphere.
“Beyond specialty coffee, we also offer matcha & turmeric lattes, frappes, smoothies, hot chocolate, and loose-leaf teas.
“Our North St. kitchen creates delicious brunch dishes, salads, toasties & sweet treats, all made fresh and in-house with seasonal menus. We cater to various dietary needs, ensuring there’s something for everyone.”
Some of the delicious brunch choices include Espresso Glazed Ham Hock Benedict or vegan-friendly Maple Glazed Carrots. There is also an array of tasty looking breakfast sandwiches on the menu, as well as a big selection of hot and cold drinks.
