Emergency services were called to the scene
A woman has died in a city centre hotel. Emergency services were called to Lord Nelson Hotel on Hotham Street at around 1.40pm today (April 11) after receiving a report that a woman had been found unconscious inside.
Merseyside Police confirmed emergency services attended the scene, but she was pronounced dead. An investigation is ongoing to establish the full circumstances of the incident and the cause of her death.
A massive police presence could be seen outside the hotel this afternoon, with multiple police cars and vans parked on Lord Nelson Street and Holtham Street. CSI officers in white suits could be seen going in and out of the hotel, while part of the street was cordoned off by police.
A number of people residing at the hotel reported being told not to leave their rooms. One woman told the ECHO that residents on the top floor of the three-storey building had been told to stay inside.
Another man, who lived on the second floor, said he had been told he was not allowed to go back into his room, and had no idea when he would be able to get back inside.
