Good Morning Britain viewers were seemingly unimpressed with Wednesday’s broadcast.

During the show, entertainment correspondent Richard Arnold excitedly shared some exclusive news with ITV audiences.

Reflecting on a recent Peppa Pig storyline where Mummy Pig revealed her pregnancy, Richard announced: “Now we have another treat for you, straight from Peppatown, in their first TV interview as a family of five, it’s Daddy Pig on FaceTime!”

The screen then split to reveal Daddy Pig who commented: “Let me just pop out of the room! We’ve just got the little one to down.”

However, the segment didn’t sit well with viewers, many of whom dismissed it as ‘nonsense’ and inappropriate for a news programme, reports Bristol Live.

One viewer vented on social media: “But Peppa Pig takes more of a headline [sic]. Complaining to Ofcom”

Another expressed frustration with: “With absolutely everything that’s f***ed up and going wrong with this country, one of your top 3 headliners is about an imaginary pig?!! Seriously , #GMB producers Need to get outside and speak to everyday folk-“.

Someone else said: “W*f is with all these pepper pig stories? It’s a f*****g news show yet we have stories about a cartoon as if it’s real life.”

A further comment from a disgruntled viewer read: “Enough with this Peppa Pig nonsense.” As one viewer remarked: “Dickie Arnold and Peppa Pig’s new sibling. I’m almost lost for words. Is that how much you think of your viewers? As someone once said, THAT is a disgrace!”

Dismayed, another took to Twitter to reel: “And this is what British news has come to..”

Richard Arnold, during his interaction with Daddy Pig on ITV, offered his congratulations on the new family member, with Daddy Pig displaying a baby grow with the Good Morning Britain emblem on the front.

It didn’t take long for the rest of the Pig family—Mummy Pig, Peppa, George, and Evie—to join in and have a chat with the GMB presenters.

Mummy Pig mentioned they chose the name to honour her great aunt, overriding Peppa’s suggestion to name the newest addition ‘baby’.

At the close of the segment, Susanna Reid and Richard Arnold reiterated their congratulations.

Good Morning Britain is available to watch on ITVX.
