Police have issued an update after two teenagers were seriously hurt in a double stabbing in Manchester.

Emergency services were called out to Stockport Road, in Ardwick, at around 5pm on Saturday evening (May 24).

Officers found an 18-year-old man and a 17-year-old boy had both suffered stab wounds.

It’s understood that at least one of the injured teens walked into a nearby hair salon to seek help.

Witnesses saw an air ambulance landing between Polygon Avenue and Lauderdale Crescent, while a large cordon was put in place around Stockport Road.

Six people were arrested on suspicion of affray in connection with the incident.

Three men were initially arrested before Greater Manchester Police announced extra stop-and-search powers for the area on Saturday evening.

A fourth man was then arrested outside a salon on the coroner of Polygon Avenue, before police confirmed yesterday that two more suspects – a man and a woman – had since been arrested.

In an update issued this morning (May 28), GMP confirmed that all six suspects have now been bailed pending further enquiries.

Forensic officers were seen taking photos inside the salon on Polygon Avenue, where a woman had been heard telling others: “There’s blood on my floor.”

GMP said a ‘large sheath’ had been handed over to officers by a member of the public on Lauderdale Crescent.

Residents living nearby told the M.E.N. that police had been patrolling the area more than usual over the last few weeks.

GMP said extra officers and patrols would remain in the area to provide a high visibility presence and offer community reassurance.
