A young girl remains in a critical condition in hospital after a crash on a Scots road.

The eight-year-old had to be helicoptered to hospital in Glasgow following the accident at Monreith in Dumfries and Galloway on Tuesday morning.

Emergency services rushed to the scene following the collision between a car and two pedestrians, with the road closed for around eight hours.

A Scottish Ambulance Service spokeswoman said: “We dispatched one ambulance, an air ambulance, a GP and our trauma team to the scene.
