The United Kingdom will officially take part in the Eurovision Song Contest 2026! The BBC, the country’s public broadcaster, has confirmed that the UK will participate in the upcoming contest, which will be held in Austria.

With this announcement, the UK joins the list of countries that have already confirmed their participation for the next edition.

Selection process remains open

The BBC has yet to clarify how it will select the artist and song that will represent the United Kingdom in 2026. In recent years, the UK’s entry has been chosen through an internal selection process without a national final. However, it has not yet been announced whether this model will continue or if any changes will be introduced.

BBC Studios until 2028

It has also been confirmed that BBC Studios will continue to handle the UK’s Eurovision coverage until 2028, following a successful tender process that began in February 2024. The contract covers the production of the two Semi-Finals and the Grand Final, while production will remain based in Salford, outside of London, in line with Ofcom’s criteria.

Additionally, BBC Studios will work alongside the BBC in selecting the UK’s Eurovision act and will oversee their stage presentation and overall appearance.

Should the United Kingdom win the contest during this contract period, the BBC will launch a separate tender process to produce the Global Eurovision Song Contest.

The UK’s Eurovision history

The United Kingdom has won the contest five times and holds the record for the most runner-up finishes, having come second on 16 occasions.

It’s worth noting that at Eurovision 2025, the UK was represented by Remember Monday with the song “What The Hell Just Happened?”, finishing in 19th place with zero points from the public vote.
