Social media footage has shown two men sliding down the roof of the National Football Museum in the rain in what a councillor has called ‘complete madness’.
The clip, shared over the bank holiday weekend, shows the two people standing atop the glass structure in Manchester city centre before jumping and sliding down a steep part of the building’s angled roof.
Shared by an urban free climber on Instagram to over 50,000 followers, the short clip starts with a voice saying: “That is a slippy, slippy slide” as the camera pans around the top, and then ends with a shot of someone on crutches who can be heard saying: “Worth it.”

The National Football Museum, on Todd Street, is based in the Urbis exhibition building having moved there in 2012. First built in 2002, the towering six-storey glass site is built with a distinctive slope.
The museum said it was ‘aware’ of the social media video circulating online and that it had been forwarded to the police to investigate.

When contacted by the M.E.N., the user, who claimed the video, said: “I’m a free climber. I just like to climb on roofs, do some stunts and have some fun.
“If I see something cool to climb, I will climb it and do a handstand at the top.”
A spokesperson from the National Football Museum, said: “We are aware of an incident that occurred over the Bank Holiday weekend and it has been reported to Greater Manchester Police.”
City centre spokesperson Pat Karney slammed the incident as ‘complete madness’, adding: “Risking your life for a show off Instagram.”
