A woman was assaulted by an unknown man this afternoon (Thursday, May 29) on the top deck of a bus in Bristol.
At around 2.45pm, officers were called to the A37 Wells Road following a report of a woman being assaulted on the bus.
The police said the woman felt a pinch from behind her when she was sat on the top-deck of the bus.
The suspect was challenged by fellow passengers before fleeing the scene before police arrived.
A witness told BristolLive that the incident took place on the 2a bus going towards the city centre from Stockwood.
The witness said that a man was involved and that he was chased off the bus by a number of passengers.
The suspect left the bus at the Greenleaze bus stop, in Knowle, according to the witness, who said they were scared after the incident.
It is understood that the bus driver subsequently removed all passengers from the service before driving the bus away.
A spokesperson for Avon and Somerset Police said: “We were called at around 2.45pm today (Thursday, May 29) to Wells Road, in Bristol, following a report of a woman being assaulted on a bus.
“Officers have arrived on the scene within 10 minutes, conducted an area tour and taken an initial statement from the victim.
“The victim described feeling a pinch from behind her while she was sat on the top-deck of the bus.
“We do not believe the victim has sustained any injuries but is understandably shaken.
“The suspect was challenged and made off before police arrival and enquiries are ongoing to identify him.
