Marvel Studios recently held new test screenings of The Fantastic Four: First Steps, and reactions from the screenings suggest fans are in for a terrifying take on the heroes.
What are the reactions from The Fantastic Four: First Steps test screening?
According to a new report from Murphy’s Multiverse on the screening reactions, the upcoming take on the iconic Marvel group is described as a “straightforward” comic book adventure. Other reactions specifically mention Ralph Ineson’s Galactus, who is described as “terrifying” and one of the best parts of the movie. The same audience member reportedly said the film has a “cosmic horror angle” to it that feels very “Lovecraftian,” probably in regard to the inclusion of Galactus.
Not everything was positive, however. Criticisms from the screening allegedly include the lack of character development, as well as a disappointing use of Reed’s power, as well as how The Thing is reportedly used in the movie.
The cast of The Fantastic Four: First Steps is led by Pedro Pascal as Reed Richards, Vanessa Kirby as Sue Storm, Joseph Quinn as Johnny Storm, and Ebon Moss-Bachrach as Ben Grimm. The film also includes Ralph Ineson as Galactus and Julia Garner as Shalla-Bal/Silver Surfer. Additionally, Paul Walter Hauser, John Malkovich, and Natasha Lyonne have been cast in undisclosed roles.
