A third, who lives beside the cordon, added: “It happened in the flats. There were lots of police and ambulances and an air ambulance. CID are also here.”

Families gathered outside watching as emergency services worked within the cordon. A number of young children were gathered around on bikes and scooters with their parents nearby.

“It was shocking,” another resident told the M.E.N. “I didn’t know what had gone on, and then when we found did find out what had happened, it was sad.”

A spokesperson for GMP said: “We were called to Baslow Road, Denton, at around 5:50pm today (May 29) to reports several people had been attacked by a dog.

“Three people, a one-year-old child and two adults, are in hospital being treated for their injuries.”
