Motorists on the M8 near Glasgow are facing lengthy delays following a collision.

The crash has resulted in two lanes being blocked on the M8 westbound at junction 27 for Paisley and Renfrew.

Police officers are currently at the scene, with heavy traffic also reported eastbound due to rubbernecking drivers.

The tailback extends approximately three miles back into Glasgow to junction 25 for Cardonald and the Clyde Tunnel.

The incident took place around 11.50am, reports Glasgow Live.

Traffic Scotland issued a statement via social media, stating: “Lanes Two and Three (Of Three) are currently blocked on the M8 Westbound at J27 due to a collision.

“Police are now on scene, although traffic is beginning to build in the area so please take care.”

According to Inrix, a traffic monitoring service, there are queues forming westbound and eastbound traffic “is also slow due to onlookers.”
