Music legend Ozzy Osbourne has shared that he is undergoing endurance training ahead of his farewell gig in Birmingham.

The Prince of Darkness will perform at Aston Villa on July 5 for the Black Sabbath: Back to the Beginning show.

The highly anticipated performance will mark the first time the original band members – Ozzy Osbourne, Tony Iommi, Geezer Butler and Bill Ward – have performed together in 20 years.

Metallica, Slayer, Pantera, Gojira, Halestorm, Alice In Chains, Lamb Of God, Anthrax, and Mastodon will also perform.

All profits from the sold-out event will be donated equally to the following charities: Cure Parkinson’s, Birmingham Children’s Hospital and Acorn Children’s Hospice, a Children’s Hospice supported by Aston Villa.

Ozzy, 76, suffers from Parkinson’s disease himself and recently shared that he is in intense training ahead of the gig.

Speaking to Billy Morison on SiriusXM, he said: “I’m in heavy training for this Aston Villa thing that’s coming up.

“I haven’t done anything for it, it’s going to be seven years.

“I’ve been through all this surgery, and it really is like starting from scratch.”

He added: “It’s endurance training. The first thing to go when you’re laid up is your stamina.

“So, believe it or not, I’m doing two sets of three-minute walks a day, weight training, I’ve got to get going, you know.”

Billy then asked him: “Have you just trained this morning before I got here?”

Ozzy – who has also previously suffered a spinal injury – replied that he had, with Billy then saying: “Because I see light and fire [in you].”

Sharing how the training has affected him, Ozzy said: “I’m waking up again in my body, you know.

“I mean three minutes to you, for instance, is nothing, but I’ve been lying on my back recovering from unteen surgeries.”

Billy then said: “It’s great to see you looking good.”

To which Ozzy replied: “Thank you.”
