One resident, named only as Andrew, told us: “There is now 3 OSU (operational support units) on site and 5-6 police cars.

“It’s hard to say what’s happened, but from what I can see, there is a white man in an upstairs room, and there is a lot of movement inside both houses on Redditch Road.

“Police and ambulance staff are inside one downstairs, the 3rd OSU just left on blues, but a fourth has pulled up now. No firearms police are on site as of yet.”

Other locals took to social media to try and find out what had happened.

Writing on Facebook, one person said: “What’s happened on Redditch Road opposite the pub? Police, fire and ambulances???”

In response, someone wrote: “There’s got to be something serious going on with the amount of police there.”

Another added: “No idea but police in riot gear with ladders and everything.”

It is unclear whether or not emergency crews remain at the scene at the time of writing.
