Ealing Council and the Met Police have issued a warning following the deaths of two people who are believed to have taken dangerous green pills while attending a nightclub in South London.

The incident happened over the Bank Holiday weekend. According to officials, the individuals were found dead in Southall on Monday, 27 May, after taking the pills the night before.

Images released by the Met Police show green tablets marked with ‘80’ on one side and possibly ‘OP’ on the other. These pills are believed to contain a highly potent synthetic opioid.

In a public warning, Ealing Council said: “The green pills, which are being sold in London, have been found to contain a potent synthetic opioid Other pills with different designs or colours may also contain harmful substances. Do not take these pills – even in small amounts. Consider the potential harm of taking any pills. If you use drugs do not take them when you are alone.

“If you or someone else feels unwell after consuming drugs, please seek emergency medical attention, rather than waiting to see if the effects wear off after sleep and re-hydration. Naloxone is an opioid overdose antidote – have it to hand if you’re going to put yourself at risk. You can get it from your nearest drug service.”

London nightclubs have also been issuing warnings to partygoers about the dangers of both green and blue pills currently circulating, which are reportedly being sold as ecstasy.

This is the latest update in the ongoing investigation, and police are urging anyone with information to come forward. Images provided by the Met Police show the pills in question to help raise awareness.
