Ryan Moore produced another spectacular ride to strike with Camille Pissarro and hand Aidan O’Brien a second victory in the Qatar Prix du Jockey Club.
Sent off as 7-2 favourite, the son of Wootton Bassett snuck up the inside rail under Moore to finish clear of Cualificar and the John and Thady Gosden-trained Detain.
There were question marks surrounding the winner before the race, given how he had not raced past a mile, but he showed plenty of stamina before staying on well. It was O’Brien’s first win in the race since St Mark’s Basilica struck in 2021, while Moore last scored in 2014 with The Grey Gatsby.
Camille Pissarro, who has two Royal Ascot entries in the St James’s Palace and Commonwealth Cup later this month, was cut to 8-1 (from 50) for the Coral-Eclipse and 16-1 (from 20) for the Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe with Paddy Power.
