A breakdown on the Edinburgh city bypass has triggered rush hour delays with motorists warned that queues are beginning to build.

One lane of the A720, near Lasswade was closed on Monday morning after a lorry broke down on the major road at around 6:45am on July 2.

The westbound lane remains blocked by the vehicle and morning commuters are being warned to approach the area with caution.

Traffic Scotland have confirmed delays, estimating travel time at approximately 25 minutes at the site of the breakdown.

Sharing the travel information with motorists on X (formerly Twitter), they wrote: ” #A720 -Lasswade Lane One (Of two) remains blocked Westbound due to a broken down lorry.

“Traffic now beginning to build on approach, with a travel time of (Appx) 25 mins.”

They went on to share that recovery for the broken down lorry has been arranged.
