Emergency services were called to the scene, and the road was closed for several hours after a grey Chevrolet Orlando car and a white Fiat 500 collided.

The force confirmed a second man sustained minor injuries which required treatment at a local hospital.

Two fire engines also attended and used equipment to release one person who was trapped in a car.

He was then passed into the care of paramedics, and crews left the scene just after 5pm.

One eyewitness told KentOnline he had to get off the bus outside The Pippin Pub due to the incident, which saw the road closed in both directions.

Officers from the Serious Collision Investigation Unit (SCIU) are appealing for any witnesses or anyone with dashcam footage to come forward.

Witnesses should contact the SCIU appeal line on 01622 798538 or email sciu.td@kent.pnn.police.uk quoting XX/JM/036/25.
