DPD customers have expressed frustration after the delivery company altered its app for Pride Month. Customers noticed their houses were represented by a rainbow flag, while the driver had changed to a unicorn.
However some users took offence to the icons, saying that they wished the company would focus on delivering the products successfully and on time. One customer, who wished to remain anonymous, slammed the firm asking “who actually asked for this?”
He told The Express: “I just want my parcel delivered on time. I’m sick to death of having these special days and months pushed on us and forced down our throats! Why do we need a unicorn and a rainbow flag? Who actually asked for this?”
He added: “Just concentrate on delivering my parcel safely and in one piece – which by the way didn’t happen!”
However, DPD did the same campaign last year, and it was met with many happy customers, with one saying: “Well done to @DPD for embracing Pride Month!”
On Facebook, replying to an unhappy customer, one replied: “No one is shoving anything down your throat, not everything is made specifically with you in mind.
“If it was a Santa sleigh for the month of December? Would you complain they’re shoving Christmas down your throat? Let those who want to, enjoy pride month.”
The delivery company considers itself a proud advocate of the LGBTQ+ community and has long held campaigns during Pride Month.
In addition to the icon changes, the company has partnered with companies during the month-long occasion, such as Gaydio, a LGBTQ+ radio station.
Its website said: “We’re proud to have one of the most diverse and inclusive teams in the country. Diversity is a strength, and for us it’s important we reflect the communities we serve.
“Our team includes people from a wide range of backgrounds, cultures and experiences.”
