Course winner Solanna (second choice) comes into this after two good runner-up efforts and Artavian may strip fitter for his reappearance effort at Wolverhampton, but TATMEEN posted an improved effort when upped to this trip at Kempton and he’s taken to follow up. The selection finished off strongly from the back of the field under Jack Dace to gain his first win and should have more to come. Sharp Distinction also holds claims.
Drouthy Neebor had been running consistently well before being pulled up at Wolverhampton last time after his saddle slipped and now drops into classified company for the first time. He is second choice but a chance is taken on CASUAL ENCOUNTER who has finished well beaten in her three starts but may be able to improve now stepping up in distance at a lowly level. Fullforward holds place claims along with Sapphire Sirocco and Foinix, while a market check is advised on Zero Zero.
Newcomers Balthamos and Beckford’s Folly (who is hooded) are respected for their powerful stables but SHAATIR was a promising third on debut at Chepstow and can get off the mark at the second attempt. Daretobedifferent showed plenty when third in a fillies’ race on debut at Newmarket and can follow the selection home, with Paranjape another debutant to keep an eye on.
Kiss And Run is back to a winning mark and commands respect on her third run back, while Glamorous Breeze (second choice) retains handicapping scope and Sugar Hill Babe is on the up. TOURIST was a bit disappointing at Southwell last time but the impression he created at Bath on his stable debut was so positive that he’s given another chance back on turf.
Ghostman got the better of Sandscreendeliverd here two weeks ago but the placings may be reversed today with the former having what could prove the worst of the draw. Skellig Isle can leave her reappearance behind and go well, while Pouting (second choice) is on a dangerous mark returned to handicap company. ANOTHER ABBOT (nap) has races in him off this mark judged on his good Redcar run last week, though, and he may be able to stalk the pace and deliver a late challenge.
Handicap newcomer Campani should be capable of better at some point, while Latona and Up The Anti (second choice) have shown promise in handicaps. However, the form claims of ME TARZAN are obvious on the back of his runaway Leicester win last week and while the faster ground, and the possibility that the visor won’t work so well a second time, are potential deterrents for short-price backers, he’s the likeliest winner and by some way.
