Newmarket trainer George Boughey operates at a very healthy 21% strike rate here, and CADARN is taken to make a winning handicap debut. Course specialist Cusack arrives at the top of his game and is feared most. The unexposed King Chaos is next on the list, with Creatif and Ninth Life others who could run well.
On the face of it this looks an excellent opportunity for BRUCE BANNER to make a winning stable debut, as his rivals have either been out of form or shown very little. None of those opponents can be ruled out, however, and Max The Tiger is bred to be suited by the step-up in trip. He may be the main danger, ahead of U S Grant.
Carida is a tempting option following her promising debut fifth at Wolverhampton last month, but preference is for SHAMADOR, who was runner-up over C&D on last September’s debut and could tap back into that promise, having been gelded since last seen. Double Parked is another to consider, while Aoife’s Thunder could be a big improver on this second start.
The clear standard is set by three-time runner-up JOWDDAH, but newcomers Naallat (for the same owner) and Noche Clasica need a very close check. Word Of Mouth is second on the list among those who have racing experience.
Jessica Macey’s horses are running well, and JENEVER, who has a solid record here, earns the vote ahead of the progressive three-time course winner Monks Dream. Jungle Land could still have more to offer, while Grant Wood is another to consider.
Having been caught in the final stride over 7f on his recent handicap debut at Lingfield, FRANCIS DRAKE (NAP) is taken to go one better now tackling 6f for the first time. C&D winner Bow Street could be the main danger now back up in trip, although Snow Creek is a handicap newcomer to note.
Having run well at Southwell three weeks ago, six-time course winner POP FAVORITE is taken to return to winning ways now back at Newcastle. Cuban Fiesta could prove a tough opponent following last month’s second on stable debut over C&D, while Rooska and Odd Socks Havana could also run well.
Just Typical and Urban Dandy come here in fine form, but they may have to play second fiddle to CORAMENTO, who made a successful handicap and stable debut here last time and can build on that.
