DFB director Rudi Völler recently revealed a pretty noteworthy secret — German national team boss Julian Nagelsmann almost made a return to Bayern Munich before the club ultimately hired Vincent Kompany.

“There were other inquiries. But proving to Bayern that he can do it there was appealing to him, yes. He was hesitant about it. We then told him: ‘You’ve now turned things around in German football. People like us again, they’re giving us recognition again. Now if you leave, then someone else will perhaps reap the fruits of your work and win titles with these players.’ – In the end he decided for us,” Völler told German outlet Blick (as captured by @iMiaSanMia).

It is very interesting that Nagelsmann still has a burning desire to prove himself at Bayern Munich. With so much time left in his coaching career, it is not out of the realm of possibility that Nagelsmann could get a chance to eventually take another run at the head coaching gig in Bavaria.
