Nintendo Switch 2 is starting to roll out in different parts of the world, and the day one update – with version 20.1.1 – is now live. The Nintendo eShop is also available.
Nintendo previously indicated that the update would be very significant, and that is indeed the case. Various features will be added to your system once installed.
Note that the update is required in order to use game-key cards. It’s also needed before you can use a microSD Express Card.

- Nintendo Switch Online
- GameChat
- Sharing News
- Transfer all
- Virtual Game Cards
- Nintendo eShop
- Game News
- Upload screenshots and videos to the server
- Linkage with smartphone apps “Nintendo Parental Controls Switch” and “Nintendo Switch App”
- You will need the Nintendo Switch App to view screenshots and videos uploaded to the server.
During the initial Nintendo Switch 2 setup, users will be prompted to update their system.
