A beloved Bristol pub has confirmed its reopening date following what is promised to be an ‘exciting’ transformation.

The Huntsman Taverners in Downend closed its doors for a temporary time on June 2, and the team says it is due to reopen on Saturday, June 21.

Previously described as boasting “wooden beams, a red brick fireplace, funky decor, and cosy booths”, The Huntsman Taverners is known for its live music events, pool table, vast array of drinks, and dishes on the menu that include fresh pizza, burgers, steaks, and even a Sunday roast.

The refurbishment will introduce a ‘two-door layout’, which will see a lively locals’ bar and a relaxed family lounge each separated by a central partition.

The local boozer, which is part of the Marston’s group, will also host live music nights and other events when it reopens. The weekly quiz night will return, beginning the Sunday after reopening.

According to the pub group, customers will be able to enjoy Sky Sports and TNT Sports on brand new 4K big screens in the bar area.

Meanwhile, the menu will continue to serve up pub classics including favourites like fish & chips, the ultimate spicy beef burger, and a range of children’s, vegan, and vegetarian dishes.

The pub’s beer garden will remain, and the pub will continue to boast a pool table, dartboard, and dog-friendly areas.

The Downend local has released a couple of artistic sketches to show just how the new look will take shape.

In the images, stylish brickwork and striking wallpaper can be seen adorning walls, with a blue and yellow/gold colour scheme, colourful lights hanging from the ceiling, framed art on the walls, and cosy furniture with plenty of seating for customers.

Three big screens can also be seen in one image, with large speakers, and mood lighting helping to bring the look together.

Pub partner Hayden Leavers said: “We can’t wait to welcome everyone back to see the improvements and continue creating memorable moments together.

“Whether you’re popping in for a pint, sharing a family meal, or celebrating a special moment, The Huntsman Taverners will be the ideal place to enjoy time with family and friends.”
