An air ambulance and police were scrambled to an industrial estate in north Manchester on Thursday evening (June 5) after a large bale reportedly landed on a worker.

A number of emergency services vehicles, including police cars and ambulances, were seen parked up near to Vale Park Way near Crumpsall.

A large cordon was also put in place by officers following the horror work place incident.

The Manchester Evening News understands that a large and heavy bale, thought to be containing shredded carpet, had landed on a man.

He was then rushed to hospital from the scene with potentially life-changing injuries, Greater Manchester Police confirmed. No further details have been released.

Multiple ambulance and incident response vehicles were also in attendance, with an air ambulance helicopter landing on the grounds of the industrial estate at around 5.30pm.

The area was cordoned off amid police investigations with tape surrounding one of the units and officers remaining at the scene.
