Police have issued an appeal after a TikToker was seen following and squirting people with a water pistol in Manchester city centre.
A number of videos, some amassing two million views, were shared on the popular social media page by user @pranklens0 showing the plastic water guns being aimed at unsuspecting members of the public.
One video, titled ‘Is she alright’ showed two women being approached before being squirted repeatedly with the pistol and having it pointed towards them.

After asking for the incident to stop and threatening to call the police, the two women are then filmed for a further two minutes in a clip in which they are seen to follow the poster down an alley while repeatedly being squirted with the liquid and attempting to grab the toy gun.

Another video, also recorded on Market Street and with 3.6 million views, appears to show a girl being targeted by two people aiming water pistols at her and then her friend who repeatedly tells her to ‘walk away’.
The comments were divided, as one person wrote: “I mean its funny but it gets to a point” and another sarcastically quipped: “yeah following someone around and spraying them with water is comedic.”

“Please respect girls and don’t spray water on them,” added another as a fourth wrote: “actually, find this so funny, cause it’s literally just a bit of water. I don’t know why people get so mad.”
One Reddit forum was also posted online, including one of the TikTok videos, and was titled: “How are people able to get away with these pranks?”
When contacted, the user claimed that people filmed were asked for permission to post the footage and apologised to.
He said: “We only do it for fun and after each prank we ask who is involved for permission to post it Also we apologise to them and it’s all filmed.
“Just wanted to point out that we are not harassing neither following people, all we are doing is trying to make a short TikTok that people can watch and laugh at.”
Greater Manchester Police said they are aware of the footage, which has been reviewed, and are appealing for any potential victims to come forward.
A spokesperson said: “Officers have reviewed footage circulating online in relation to potential hate incidents where people have been sprayed with water.
“This was reported to us by a concerned member of the public and we are now appealing to any potential victims to come forward.
“Officers are requesting any potential victims to report this to the Town Hall team online via Your area | Greater Manchester Police Alternatively, anyone with information can contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.”
