Searching for a new spot for a post-work pint? Well, you’re in luck as Stables Tavern in Manchester combines everything we know and love about the unfussy, great British pub and is oozing with history too. Located in Manchester’s newest creative district, St John’s, Stables Tavern neighbours the Bonded Warehouse and Aviva Studios.

Open from June 6, visitors can expect multiple taps with local beers, served with complimentary bowls of crisps for that perfect post-work pint or afternoon weekend catch-up. Crisps and a pint – what more could you want? Well, there’s more as Stables Tavern will also be serving up traditional pub snacks like sausage rolls made in-house and locally-sourced pies made by Great North Pie Co.

You’ll also find outside seating at the front for Manchester’s sunnier days, a main bar area where punters can grab their favourite tipple. Plus, there’s a parlour area at the back of the pub offering cosy vibes and the perfect setting for live entertainment, old school games, or rounds of whiskey throughout the autumn and winter.

The building in St John’s has a rich history, and during the early 19th Century it was a busy watering hole for Manchester’s workers, merchants and visitors who passed through the city’s canal ways and cobbled streets. The turn of the 20th Century saw the decline in the city’s industries, and a turn in the industrial revolution saw the closure of the Bonded Warehouse and Stables Tavern with it.

However, its history doesn’t stop there as the site has previously been the home of Manchester’s much loved Rovers Return, Coronation Street‘s local boozer. Alas you won’t find the likes of our Gail, in there. Now with the recent redevelopment of the area, the pub is back with a new lease of life and with nods to its original identity and historic past remaining.
