Beyoncé Knowles-Carter brought all the “Energy” to her first night of her “Cowboy Carter” tour in London — literally and figuratively, performing the fan-favorite track and bringing back a beloved challenge.
The Grammy-winning singer kicked off her London opener on her Cowboy Carter and the Rodeo Chitlin’ Circuit Tour at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium June 5. The show marked her first of six shows at the stadium and Beyoncé‘s debut show overseas for this tour. She is set to hit the stage again on June 7, 10, 12, 14 and 16, before heading to Paris for three nights.
Toward the end of the show, she caught fans by complete surprise when she performed her hit song “Energy” from her 2022 album “Renaissance” — the first time she’s done so on her “Cowboy Carter” tour.
While she already has a segment when she performs songs from the “Renaissance” project, previously that song had not been included. Fans might recall the “mute challenge,” when fans go completely silent after Beyoncé sings the lyrics “look around everybody on mute,” became a signature moment of her Renaissance World Tour.
And this time around, she made sure to prompt fans at Tottenham Stadium as she performed the song. One fan exclaimed, “I can’t believe we got ‘Energy,'”and many fans online and at the stadium shared the same sentiments.
As fans know, Beyoncé first debuted her “Cowboy Carter” tour at SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles on April 28 with 39 songs on the set list. Her shows have been filled with family, fashion, different music genres, and most notably country music and cultural commentary. And her first London show was no different.
