Cornel Filipeche, aged 21 and of Hawthorn Road, Perry Barr, was sentenced to 10 years after pleading guilty to rape, robbery and causing grievous bodily harm at Birmingham Crown Court today (June 6).
Police were called to Walsall Road, Perry Barr, in the early hours of January 18 to reports that a woman had been attacked and raped.

Police appealed for CCTV and information to identify the offender. Three days after the appeal was launched, Filipeche was arrested.
Following a further investigation, including evidence given by the brave victim, Filipeche was charged with rape, robbery and causing grievous bodily harm.
He pleaded guilty to all three charges on February 20 and this week was sentenced to serve 10 years in prison, with an extended five-year licence period.
He will also be required to sign onto the sex offenders register for life.
