Travellers have moved on to a popular family park near a Birmingham rugby club.

More than a dozen caravans were spotted on Billesley Common today, June 6.

A dogwalker told BirminghamLive the Travellers had moved on to the green space, next door to Moseley Rugby Club, earlier this week.

He said he was taking his dog for a walk last night when more caravans “turned up”.

A large convoy of caravans were also spotted at the park, owned by Birmingham City Council, in May last year.

The council recently said it has useable transit sites – in line with government policy – for the traveller community to use after a small group of caravans set up camp on nearby Swanshurst Park earlier this month.

Their arrival came just 24 hours after members of a volunteer group dedicated to maintaining the park finished picking up rubbish after the last group left.

The Friends of Swanshurst Park spent two days tidying up and amassed an estimated 30 bags full of trash which was taken by a council bin lorry.
