A road in Edinburgh’s city centre has been cordoned off by police in an ongoing incident.

Waterloo Place has been closed by emergency services after an incident which took place around 1.15pm on June 6.

It’s understood police were responding to concern for a person. A number of officers and emergency vehicles are at the scene.

Local bus diversions have been put in place while investigations are carried out.

A statement from Edinburgh Travel News reads: “Waterloo Place is currently closed due to a police incident.

“Some restrictions are likely on Calton Road too. We’ll share more info as we get it.”

A Lothian Buses statement reads: “Due to a road closure buses are unable to serve Waterloo Place and are instead diverted via Leith Street, Picardy Place and London Road in both directions until further notice.”
