A pensioner has died following a horror crash in West Lothian.

Emergency services raced to Blaeberryhill Road at Glenmore, in Whitburn, after the alarm was raised at around 5.55pm on Friday.

Ambulance crews attended, however the 71-year-old male driver was sadly pronounced dead at the scene.

A 74-year-old woman, who was passenger in the car, was taken to hospital to be checked over.

Pictures taken from the scene, which were shared with the Record, showed the large emergency response following the incident.

Police, ambulance and fire crews could be seen in attendance, while an area of the street was cordoned off.

Road policing officers are now appealing for information.

Sergeant Jamie Humpage said: “Our thoughts are with the family and friends of the man who died and our enquiries into the circumstances are ongoing.

“I am appealing for anyone who witnessed the crash who hasn’t already spoken to officers to please get in touch.

“I would also ask anyone who was in the area at the time and may have dash-cam footage which could assist to contact us.”
