Westminster has allocated £465,000 of funding to be given to the Swindon healthcare facility via the Bath and North East Somerset, Swindon and Wiltshire Integrated Care Board.
It will be spent on improvements to ventilation systems and internal building fabric and fittings, as well as fire safety works.
Swindon North MP Will Stone said: “The Labour government is working to fix the areas that have been left to crumble, and nowhere is this needed more than in critical hospital infrastructure. I’m pleased the Health Secretary has allocated funds to GWH to make needed repairs.”

This government funding is part of a wider scheme to rebuild the UK’s health infrastructure which is worth a combined sum of £750m of capital funding as announced in the October 2024 Budget.
A spokesperson for Great Western Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust said that it had recorded receiving £432,000 so far and added: “We welcome the government funding which will be used to support essential maintenance work across our hospital.
“This investment will help us carry out important improvements, such as enhancing ventilation systems, contributing to the safety, comfort and quality of care we provide to our patients.”
