Recently the weather has felt more like autumn rather than summer, but conditions are expected to take a turn for the better next week in Greater Manchester as the Met Office predicts highs of 24C.

After a wet weekend with sunny intervals interspersed with showers, next week is expected to get off to a much drier start.

According to the latest forecast, Monday will be cloudy and dry in Greater Manchester, with just a slight possibility of some showers. Temperatures are expected to reach highs of 15C by 11am.

Forecasting for the North West on Monday, the Met Office said: “A dry and bright start on Monday but skies will cloud over from the west by late morning, with outbreaks of rain arriving from mid afternoon.

“Strengthening southwesterly winds. Maximum temperature 17 °C.”

Rain is forecast overnight, but by mid-morning Tuesday should be dry and sunny, with clear skies predicted by mid-afternoon. The mercury will gradually creep up to 18C by 4pm.

But it’s Wednesday when we can expect temperatures to really warm up. Forecasters predict sunny intervals throughout the day with highs of 24C by 4pm.

It will remain warm into the evening, with a toasty 20C forecast for 10pm.

Thursday will see some showers throughout the day and it will be slightly cooler, although the mercury will still reach a respectable high of 22C by 4pm.

There’s a similar outlook on Friday, as forecasters predict sunny intervals and showers throughout the day and a high of 21C.

Forecasting for the north west from Tuesday to Thursday, the Met Office said: “Often cloudy on Tuesday with further outbreaks of light rain.

“Turning warmer from mid week with sunny spells and an increasing risk of thundery showers, especially on Thursday.”
