Police are searching for a missing schoolgirl who could have travelled nearly 300 miles to Birmingham, leaving her mum “worried sick”.

Ava Stewart, from Kilmarnock in Scotland, was last seen boarding a train at Glasgow Central Station at around 1.35pm on Friday, June 6.

A family friend said her mother was very concerned for her safety. Tasha Hughes posted on Facebook beneath the appeal: “Please anyone with any info contact the police or her mum, her mum is absolutely worried sick as you can imagine.”

A spokesperson for Police Scotland Ayrshire said: “Following enquiries, officers believe she may have travelled to Birmingham.”

Providing a description of Ava, a force spokesperson continued: “Ava is described as around 4ft 11 in height, of slim build with long brown hair.

“When last seen, she was wearing white tracksuit bottoms, a grey crop top, a blue denim jacket and blue/cream Nike Air Jordan trainers.

“She also has a lip and nose piercing and has a coloboma feature in her left eye.”

Sgt Lana Grant added: “Concerns are growing for Ava and it is important we make sure she is safe and well.

“We are asking anyone who has seen her or has any information on her whereabouts to please get in touch.”
