Train passengers have been warned to make alternative arrangement when services between the Severn Tunnel Junction and Bristol Parkway / Filton Abbey Wood are affected for 11 days.
National Rail said that engineering work will take place on the line affecting all services between Monday June 9 and Friday June 20.
The organisation said the work is part of the routine maintenance work as it looks after 20,000 miles of track, 45,000 bridges and tunnels, and 6,500 level crossings on the network.
Here’s the list of services that will be affected by the line closures:
- CrossCountry between Cardiff Central and Bristol Temple Meads
- Great Western Railway between Carmarthen and Bristol Parkway / London Paddington, between Swansea and London Paddington, and also between Cardiff Central and Bristol Temple Meads / Westbury / Frome / Taunton / Exeter St Davids / Exmouth / Plymouth / Penzance, between Cardiff Central and Portsmouth Harbour / London Paddington
CrossCountry:
From Monday 9 to Friday 13 June:
Buses will replace trains between Newport and Bristol Parkway / Bristol Temple Meads.
Additionally, the 05:20 Bristol Temple Meads to Cardiff Central service will not run. It will be replaced by a bus from Bristol Temple Meads to Newport.
On Saturday 14 June , the 21:35 Cardiff Central to Bristol Temple Meads service will not run.
On Sunday 15 June , the 10:22 Bristol Temple Meads to Cardiff Central service will not run.
From Monday 16 to Friday 20 June:
Buses will replace trains between Newport and Bristol Parkway / Bristol Temple Meads.
Additionally, the 05:20 Bristol Temple Meads to Cardiff Central service will not run. It will be replaced by a bus from Bristol Temple Meads to Newport.
Great Western Railway:
From Monday 9 to Friday 20 June:
A reduced and amended timetable will be in affect across the Great Western Railway network.
Trains between Carmarthen / Swansea and London Paddington will divert between Newport and Swindon via Gloucester, and will not call at Bristol Parkway.
Trains between Cardiff Central and Portsmouth Harbour will be diverted to run between Bristol Parkway and Portsmouth Harbour. An alternative train service will run between Cardiff Central and Bristol Parkway via Gloucester to connect to trains between Bristol Parkway and Portsmouth Harbour.
Trains between Cardiff Central and Taunton / Exeter St Davids (and beyond) will run between Bristol Temple Meads and Taunton / Exeter St Davids (and beyond). An alternative train service will run between Cardiff Central and Bristol Temple Meads via Gloucester to connect to trains between Bristol Temple Meads and Taunton / Exeter St Davids (and beyond).
You can use your ticket on local bus services between Patchway and Bristol Parkway at no extra cost.
A replacement bus service will run between Cardiff Central and Newport / Severn Tunnel Junction during peak times, and between Cardiff Central and Newport / Bristol Parkway during the early morning / late night.
Sunday 15 June:
Trains between Carmarthen / Swansea and London Paddington will run between Carmarthen / Swansea and Newport, and also between Bristol Parkway and London Paddington.
Trains between Cardiff Central and Portsmouth Harbour will run between Bristol Parkway and Portsmouth Harbour only. Trains between Cardiff Central and Taunton will run between Bristol Temple Meads and Taunton only.
Replacement buses will run between:
- Cardiff Central and Bristol Parkway
- Newport and Bristol Parkway
- Newport and Bristol Parkway via Severn Tunnel Junction and Patchway
A spokesperson for National Rail said: “You can find the pick-up and set-down location of rail replacement services by checking station signage or by searching for your station on our Find a Station page .
“Please be advised that replacement vehicles may be busier than usual, and you should allow extra time for your journey.”
