Palace makes statement as William takes reins from King Charles
Prince William once again stepped up on the world stage as he continues to play a prominent role representing King Charles.
The Prince of Wales, who is currently in Monaco for an important visit made a ‘landmark speech’ with world leaders in attendance, seemingly taking the reins from his father.
The Kensington Palace on Sunday released a statement after William delivered a powerful speech making a bold plea to world leader about the diminishing oceans that are vital to life on the planet.
“Honoured to attend the Blue Economy and Finance Forum in Monaco. A vital moment to accelerate the transition to a sustainable and regenerative marine economy,” the message from the Palace read alongside a carousel of highlights.
“Inspiring to catch up with Earthshot Finalists working to ‘Revive our Oceans’. From restoring coral reefs to transforming seaweed farming and plastic pollution prevention,” it continued.
“The ocean sustains life, regulates our climate, and feeds billions, but it’s under threat. Solutions exist, and action is urgent.”
The message concluded, “Grateful to stand alongside world leaders and changemakers, united in commitment to protect 30% of our ocean by 2030 and drive progress ahead of the UN Ocean Conference.”
King Charles has been a lifelong advocate of protecting the natural environment ever since he was the Prince of Wales for several decades. The monarch continues to support the cause and even made a powerful speech at the COP28.
Meanwhile, William, who is quietly preparing for his role as the king, has been given more prominent roles to represent the monarchy on the global stage. Last time, William had attended the funeral of Pope Francis last month.
It appears to be a clear indicator of the growing responsibility William is taking on as the monarch continues with his cancer treatment.
